Having spent his childhood skiing in Echigo-Yuzawa, Niigata Prefecture, he developed a deep familiarity with snow from an early age.
Through extended stays in mountain resort regions in Japan and Banff, Canada, he cultivated a growing interest in how people live within natural environments and how such environments are experienced and enjoyed. With a background that includes study abroad and a strong interest in technology, he has explored the use of technology in regional contexts and engaged in initiatives that connect snowy regions and local communities in Japan with those overseas. Through hands-on involvement in the accommodation industry essential to resort areas, as well as on-site work in snow-heavy mountainous regions, he confronts local challenges directly and continues to deepen his inquiry into the relationships between snow-centered ways of life and broader social and economic systems.
